Walkers Clock
Walkers Clock is a video sculpture piece inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’s quotes on the subject of time:
Time is the substance from which I am made.
Time is a river which carries me along, but I am the river;
it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger;
it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire.
I made this real-time clock formed by people walking on an ellipse plane in Unity, the people who are walking on the plane and showing the time are 3d models scanned from my own body. As in this video, it was projected on a wall with the tik tok click sound from a real clock.
24/7 On Call
This piece was a response to the news that most of Chinese IT companies are tend to adopt a 996 working system, in which workers needs to work from 9am to 9pm from Monday to Saturday, it reminds me of my friends in theatre industry as producers were called to handling some works even when they are in holidays, also, another inspiration is from Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times, time is controlled by the market, or money. This book “Pip Pip: A sideways look at Time” by Jay Griffiths talks a lot about time and cultures also inspired me a lot.
This piece was made with Unity, all the 3d models are my own body 3d scanned models.
Milky Way Falls From Heaven
Milky Way Falls From Heaven is a video sculpture piece based on Chinese Poet Li Bai’s Poem, “Viewing the waterfall at mount Lu“, there is one sentence from the poem depicting the waterfall, descending from 3000 feet, and he thought it was the milky way falling down from the heaven. It is very romantic and the words are so imaginative. i found an english translation, although it loses the beauty of the language, it expresses the atmosphere:
Sunlight streaming on incense stone kindles a violet smoke,
Far off I watch the waterfall plunge to the long river,
Flying waters descending straight three thousand feet,
Till I think the milky way has tumbled from the ninth height of heaven.

飞流直下三千尺，疑是银河落九天。
The structure of the installation is actually inspired by asian style bamboo water pump that is very often spotted in an eastern style garden or temple.
